Exports of all types of vegetable oils from Russia in the season-2023/24 (ended August 31) amounted to about 7.2 mln tonnes, of which 5.2 mln tonnes were sunflower oil, 1.2 mln tonnes - rapeseed oil and 757,000 tonnes - soybean oil, reports field.rf with reference to estimates of the Russian Oil and Fat Union.
"At the end of 2023/24, Russia ranks 3rd as an exporter of vegetable oils to the world market with a share of 8%, behind Indonesia and Malaysia - the main suppliers of palm oil. At the same time, the country holds the palm of superiority in terms of total supplies of sunflower, rapeseed and soybean oil to the world market, the share of domestic products is 20%,’ said Mikhail Maltsev, executive director of the union.
According to the ROFU, exports of vegetable meal from the Russian Federation at the end of the season also increased (by 15%) and amounted to 4.2 mln tonnes. Sunflower meal supplies reached 2.8 mln tonnes (2.2 mln tonnes in the season-2022/23), soybean meal - 913 thousand tonnes (701 thousand tonnes in the season before). Only rapeseed meal exports decreased from 713,000 tonnes to 485,000 tonnes.
According to M. Maltsev, last season was a record-breaking one both in terms of oilseed crops harvest - more than 29.5 mln tonnes, and in terms of oil and fat products production - almost 26 mln tonnes (+6%), of which vegetable oils - more than 10.2 mln tonnes.
